Personally, I didn't know about this initiative until my friends introduced me about it. To sum it up a little bit, 'Mission for Hygiene' aims to promote healthy hygiene habits among school children.

HOW?

By actively educating the children to practice hygiene habits in school and at home. For me, hygiene is really important especially when it comes to our hand. It is really important to keep our hand clean from germ and to avoid Hand Foot Mouth Disease in Malaysia.

Therefore, Dettol is here to educate school children and make into habits on washing our hand correctly. That's why 7 steps of hand washing is introduce.

YB Dato’ P. Kamalanathan teach the school children on how to wash their hands correctly.

Here are the list of good hand washing technique:

1. Wet hands with clean warm running water
2. Apply a small amount of soap
3. Rub your palms together, (away from the water)
4. Rub your fingers and thumbs and bits in between
5. Rub your nails on your palms
6. Rub the back of each hand
7. Rinse with clean running water
8. Dry with a clean towel or paper towel.

According to Marketing Director of Reckitt Benckiser Malaysia and Singapore, Tiffany Tang, in the last four years, they have reached close to 350,000 school students. In the next 10 years, they aim to reach all of 2.7 million primary school children in Malaysia.

To achieve that target, they came out with activities that required participation from students. One of the activities is to conduct a series of 'Gotong Royong' (focusing on toilet cleanliness) contest, which they need to submit before and after photos of their toilets.

Other than that, they are also required to create a Dettol logo mural in front of the school's toilet (Theme: Better Hygiene, Better Health), just like on the picture below.

One picture with this beautiful mural!

I hope that all the children will take part, enjoy and learn at the same time about hygiene. Hope that I will get to teach my future children too about the 7 steps of hand washing :p
