This post is really special to me because I'm combining two favourite things into one which is travelling and reviewing beauty products. Plus, Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway has been a total saviour during my work trip and here's the reason why.

Another sunscreen review!

My first thought on Dubai was 'oh it's gonna be hot there' and it does BUT... only in the afternoon. So, it's a perfect time to test how much I'm going to love the sunscreen from Althea. Get the perimeter on!

What is Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway?

The sunscreen is the newest addition to the family of Petal Velvet line and the similarity between them is the micro-powder particles that give a smooth, petal-like complexion. Just like their name the sunscreen main ingredient is DAMASK ROSE.

For more information about the ingredients, visit SkinCarisma here.

I never heard of Damask Rose and it makes me thinking did I missing something? Well, obviously! The rose actually has a natural nanomolecular composition that is rich in vitamins to penetrate deep into the skin, sensitivities and strengthening it for a radiant glow. Now I'm getting excited to try because...
1. The acne started to grow the moment I step foot there.
2. Skin is getting sensitive as blemishes and redness started to show up.

A pimple popping out my face.

What makes it different from other products?

I like to point THREE things about Althea sunscreen:-

Micro Powder Barrier: Contains microparticles that absorb serum and excess oil from the skin to give a light velvety finish.

Hydrating, Fresh Formula: Aside controlling excess sebum on the skin with a micro powder system. The products ensures the skin kept hydrated throughout the day.

Advanced Non-Chemical UV Filter: Applies evenly and smoothly onto the skin without leaving a white cast behind. This is due to an advanced non-chemical UV filter with a more transparent formula.

Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway Curitan Aqalili
I wonder wouldn't it leave a white cast at all?

How to use the sunscreen?

Just like a normal sunscreen, apply a generous layer as the last step of skincare. I must insist you to bring sunscreen everywhere you go because you have to reapply every 2-3 hours to avoid any sunburn!

Take note that the Sunaway is great for daily use and all skin types even with sensitive skin! So, don't forget to shake well, apply and wait for 15 minutes before going out~

6 days with Sunaway is a life saviour!

What do you think about the product?

Throughout 25 years, I have tried 6 sunscreens in total and this would be my second favourite. To be honest, this is my first time that encounters such a velvelty sunscreen because usually, it will be either too watery or oily.

This lead to my 6 days work trip to Dubai, even it was a hot scorching sun my face doesn't produce oil and they succeed in controlling the sebum. Clearly, I was afraid that it will let me down because I only brought Althea sunscreen there, no other options.

But, thank god it suits me and smooth out my skin. The only thing that turns me off is I have to shake it well before applying it. People might not agree with my opinion but I wanted something that I can grab and just put it on my face, like, quickly.

Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway Curitan Aqalili
I can say that this is not my regular passport picture because you can see the difference on both sides.
Overall, it was a great week because the bottle is really small to bring along during a daily hotel inspection and socialising there. It doesn't feel heavy and this will be my go-to sunscreen for travel!

So, if you are an avid travel but still want to protect your skin from UV lights. Grab a Petal Velvet Set (including ONE Althea Velvet Powder) or a la carte here

I never left home without sunscreen, never ever! So, the hunt to find the best sunscreen for my skin is going on for quite a while now and let's start with the Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence!

Every time I try out something new including the Deep Cleansing package, I keep tracking my skin condition. Honestly, I do love some of the products but let's see if I love the latest sunscreen by Klairs. Before that, let's get to know about it a little bit.

What is KLAIRS Soft Airy UV Essence SPF 50 ++++

As a water-based sunscreen, the gel-type sunscreen provides the soft, weightless, invisible daily protection that guards against UVA, UVB without leaving greasiness or white cast.

The sunscreen is also labelled as a cruelty-free, vegan-friendly and made for all skin type included a sensitive skin.

It was said on their website that the sunscreen can be reapplied over the makeup and recommended to those who do not like to reapply sunscreen. These points make it interested for me to try out even more.

Any good ingredients inside there?

Klairs products are known for their good ingredients and for this sunscreen, take note there are Niacinamide, Adenosine, Panthenol, Beta-Glucan and Sea Buckthorn Oil. Good ingredients? I'm sure it is!

So, niacinamide is good for brightening and anti-aging purposes. Panthenol promotes for wound healing and good for dry skin while Sea Buckthorn Oil aka Hippophae Rhamnoides Oil for fungal acne.

I would say, it was a great overview but to know full details of the sunscreen check out SkinCharisma here.

With good ingredients, let see how to use it!

How to use the sunscreen?

After putting on your toner, moisturiser and additional products, apply the sunscreen and wait for 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply every 3 hours when exposed to sunlight.

The sunscreen absorbed into my skin without a white cast.

What do I think?

I tried few sunscreens before and the most expensive that I've spent is RM95. I'm a little bit picky in terms of pricing and the value that comes with it but, this sunscreen still fit into my preferences.

In terms of how it felt, I like how it spread smoothly onto my skin but I feel like it can be a little bit oily after that. Weirdly, the greasiness stop after a while I was out of the sun which never happened before and speaking of the white cast, the sunscreen just absorbed into my skin without producing any of it.

After a few weeks of trying it, I love the sunscreen but I wouldn't grab for it because I found there are other sunscreens that will give the same results.

I put the sunscreen on the left side and it's a bit oily.

Where to buy?

Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence SPF 50 PA ++++ can be found on Wishtrend for USD23 which is around RM93 if you buy it on Althea Malaysia (GET 20% off on your first order here).

We have decided to visit Busan first before heading to the city of Seoul because we have this mindset - 'ahh, there are not a lot of places to discover in Busan'. Clearly, I was wrong because when I came back to Malaysia and see all the show on TvNthere are still λ§Žμ΄ things to do. So, here's my complete information on the hotel, food, shopping and places that I get to visit.

KOREA BUSAN GAMCHEON VILLAGE CURITAN AQALILI
Busan Gamcheon Cultural Village!

1. Hotel No.25 πŸ¨

The moment I recall back about this hotel, I remembered we found a condom! We laughed so hard and were like 'is this a love hotel?'. In my mind, I was like 'yea obviously' the condom is the answer to that question but I don't want to said it out loud to avoid an awkward situation.

Aside from giving a protection, the facilities provided by the hotel are pretty complete for travellers. Plus, the staff speak English, so thumbs up for that!

2. Haeundae Beach (ν•΄μš΄λŒ€ν•΄μˆ˜μš•μž₯) πŸ“Έ

To be honest, the hotel is a bit far from the main attractions but we have a reason for it. The reason we stay there because...we need to catch a flight to Jeju. So, without wasting any time, we go straight to the place that pops out every time I searched about Busan - Haeundae.

Imagine you can see the beach in the middle of a city full of buildings and I'm pretty into it. Especially I came at the right time where all the umbrella filled up the beach! Because it's a popular summer vacation spot, the local people put on their swimsuit, bring all the good snacks and rent the umbrella for the perfect summer getaway.

3. Haeundae Market (λΆ€μ‚° ν•΄μš΄λŒ€μ „ν†΅μ‹œμž₯) πŸ“Έ

Socks is a must thing to buy in Korea, you can't find a wide choice of design anywhere but here. And at the end of the day, I brought back around 3 pairs of socks which for the first day are insane.

There are also fresh vegetables and tteokbokki that you can enjoy. I believe Busan rice cakes are really spicy and big that absorb all the goodness. I bought one to tried but eat at your own risk because there is no information regarding Halal ingredients whatsoever.

4. Hello India Al-Waha (ν—¬λ‘œ 인디아 μ•Œμ™€ν•˜πŸ₯˜

Walking around the beach made me hungry especially when we go out straight without resting. This area is actually famous with the big sign of fish cake (eomuk), but we decided to grab some dinner that served Indian and middle eastern dishes at Hello India Al-Waha.

We expected the prices to be around KRW12,000 or more which it was. But, I felt really relax where we enjoy our dinner without taking pictures of the food. Plus, the view from the second floor is the best.

5. Gwanggalli Beach (κ΄‘μ•ˆλ¦¬ν•΄μˆ˜μš•μž₯) πŸ“Έ

My one and only aim here is to see the LED Busan Gwangandaegyo Bridge (λΆ€μ‚° κ΄‘μ•ˆλŒ€κ΅). If you come here during the nighttime, I suggest you to visit one of the cafes nearby, sit at the balcony and enjoy the colourful light show.

There are tons of couple that sit around and just chit-chatting, and I would love to do that because the beach is really clean and I'm pretty sure the water is pristine too. So, bring a beach towel and just chillax. But, if you love a city vibe walk inside to the building area and explore more!

6. Namil Bar (λ‚¨μΌλ°”πŸ“Έ

When I went to Busan, I said to myself let's visit at least one film location of K-Drama which I did and visited Namil Bar! It's like a dream came true because I love rooftop and the view is BREATHTAKING.

Thank god I have a supportive mom and brother to follow me around and do crazy things like climbing the stairs. I'm so grateful for that. If you want to know more about my experiences to Namil Bar, click here.

7. Busan Gamcheon Cultural Village (λΆ€μ‚° κ°μ²œλ¬Έν™”λ§ˆμ„) πŸ“Έ

Say Machu Pichu two times faster and you will always remember this colourful village in Busan! It's a must place to visit in the city because they have wonderful mural and shops around the residential area.

There are a few hotspots for you to take a picture but I personally like the 'cradle' part because I can see the whole village. For me, do take your time stroll around the village as it's really huge, so make sure to enjoy the street food, art store and get a stamp!

8. Jagalchi Fish Market (λΆ€μ‚° μžκ°ˆμΉ˜μ‹œμž₯πŸ₯˜

Nothing is great than visited a fresh market full of seafood and eat right there! We actually survey which restaurant we should try and end up at μ›μ‘°μžμ—°μ‚°νšŸμ§‘ (original sashimi store). If you find a blue signboard like the picture below, get in there because it's worth it.

We actually ordered seafood stew and fried fish. It was a really fulfilling lunch and less crowded because we came really early at that time. I love the side dishes (banchan) so much that I nearly want to bring back some home. I heard their speciality is king crab and sashimi, so make sure to try that too!

After that, we decided to take a stroll along the market. I found one stall that sells different types of marinated side dishes and the other with big octopus. But, I'm kind of miss one thing to eat which is a raw octopus called sannakji, if you have tried there let me know how it tastes like.

9. BIFF Square (BIFF κ΄‘μž₯ (ꡬ, PIFF κ΄‘μž₯)πŸ₯˜

Before we headed to Jeju for 3 nights, I wanted to explore Busan for one last time. I heard you will find tons of streets food at BIFF during night time but you can also grab some during morning too! So, we grab hotteok twice and shrimp burgers from Lotteria.

My mom really loves the hotteok (ν˜Έλ–‘) a sweet pancake that filled with mix nuts. Awesome to grab this during winter but just as lovely during summer. After we get our breakfast/lunch fix, we head to the Nampodong underground market to window shopping. So far, the price was not bad but I didn't get anything and saving up to shop in Seoul.
