This is really hard for me to write BUT Here are 5 Lessons That I Learned In 2018... (Career Edition)
One of the reasons I never write something personal for this blog because I scared that people might twist what I'm writing and misinterpret of what I'm going to say. But as a whole, I am a really private person, I rarely share anything in-depth about my family, friends, and work.
This is where things get a bit bumpy...

Now, here I am writing based on feedback from two good friends of mine and the topic is career ups and down and what I learned from it.
Back to history...
After I graduated around 2017, I decided to get some rest and do my own things like this blog, video shooting and editing. Basically, freelancing.
When the time is up (8 months to be exact), I decided to look out for a job.
After several interviews, I got my first full-time job at a startup company and it was my dream job (content marketing in travel and food industry).
The first lesson that I learned from here is to... Pick up some skills even by yourself.
At that time, video and writing industry is blooming and I would say it's a very demanding skill set. So, I was fortunate enough to learned video shooting, editing, social media management, designing and writing from my studies day.
8 month goes by, I jumped and followed my boss where they came out with a new beauty platform.
This is where things get a bit bumpy...
Second, don't keep everything to yourself. Seek help.
I was trying to be a tough girl (at that time I'm still a child). So, I hold on to myself most of the part that I'm hurting. I act like I'm okay but truthfully I'm not. I will say bad words to cover up my emotions, I become rude as a person. That's the character that I play in front of people. But, when I'm alone, I cried, I blame myself, questions myself am I good enough and that's when I know I need some help.
I talked to my parents, fiancee and a best friend of mine about this. After I let it all out, I felt relieved. They are the reason why I keep moving forward and taught me if I did something wrong, apologize. If I did something right, fight for that justice.
We still have a long way to go, my dear self. Photo by Aqalili Azizan |
Third, let go of your ego.
This rule applies when you made a mistake. Simple. To be honest, I am a stubborn girl and before I'm 25 years old, it was hard for me to even admit my mistakes. I guess work makes me matured and I try so hard not to repeat the same mistakes that I shouldn't. As a human, sometimes, I do forget.
After 4 months, something happened and the company closed down.
I have a lot of commitment at that time and I need a job that I love and I need it faster. Pronto. Clearly, back to square one and I realised at that time, why not I venture into a professional industry because I clearly need to learn from experiences person/company in writing.
After 4-5 interviews, I got a job!
Fourth, don't ever give up in your life.
Yeah, a bit cheesy but by not giving up you are one step ahead of your dream. It's going to be a bumpy ride, like usual but that is a journey that you live for. I don't think I'm a perfect writer yet because I still have a lotttttt to learned and improved my worst enemy, grammar.
Fifth, know your passion and dream.
I'm a type of person that pushed myself really hard until I explode.
Becoming a great writer is one of my main dreams (I REALLY MEAN IT) and without that dream or passion to keep on learning, I would not be able to do it. My advice is to take your time. I know that we are running out of time but at least we must make a best out of it.

When I was a kid, I was thinking that maybe I am Dora because I have the same black and bob haircut (please don't imagine that). But now I clearly know my own identity and just want to reminisce my childhood memory watching the cartoon on the stage as Dora the Explorer is on the stage of Resorts World Genting!
Get to watch one of fave childhood cartoon live in action! |
Dora couldn't live without Boots, Backpack, Map and other characters (they need each other). So would they all show up on 90-minute production? Well, the answer will reveal throughout this post (spoiler alert). Before that, let me tell you about the Dora the Explorer LIVE! Search for the City of Lost Toys synopsis...
Dora has lost her teddy bear Osito and she needs help to find him. Sweeping through elaborate sets and rousing musical numbers, Dora must venture through a jungle of obstacles with nothing more than all her courageous friends. It will not be easy, however, as the sneaky fox Swiper plans to foil her quest at all turns. Enganging the audience through song, dance and problem solving, there is no doubt that Dora will eventually succeed, so she can sing out her catchphrase at the end - We Did It!
Help Dora look out for Osito |
Adventorous journey with Dora and Boots! |
It was a very straightforward story as Dora need to find Osito and going through two places before arriving at the 'City of Lost Toys'. What makes it interesting because it's a thrilling musical show that will make children stand up.
Since the show first premiered in Melbourne, Australia in 2010 and has gone on tour more than 15 countries, it's the first time ever the show arrived in Malaysia!
P/S: The show is produced by Life Like Touring and Nickelodeon and conceived by co-creator of the Dora the Explorer television show, Chris Gifford.
Jump with Dora and friends! |
Seeing the live performance is actually very interesting and different from what I have experienced before. The moment they start, Boots and Benny is very interactive while Tico and Isa would show up after that to introduced Dora.
There are a lot of familiar songs from the television included Dora catchphrase - We Did It!. So, I can hear a lot of kids singing together and if there is an interaction moment, the children are really pumped up to communicate and answer energetically. I like it because they bring us along and let us be their safe keeper to told them where is the Swiper the Fox.
Running away from Swiper the Fox? |
One of my favourite moments is, of course, the end of the scene where all the characters sing to We Did It! Even I am an adult, I felt invited to watch the show and imagine if you bring your kids that love the cartoons, that will definitely put a smile on your face and saw it in front of my eye.

My vacation ends right after the skin is getting better from acne. I'm not sure what is the reasons for my breakout because I was stress, period, ate tons of things and trying new products at the same time. Clearly, I'm a bit stubborn here because you need to stop putting new products when you are going through BREAKOUT. But, some part of me also said like let's just get it because I need exfoliation and maybe Althea Milk Peel Cream Mask can help. Shall we see what the products to my acne?
Milk in exfoliation product? Interesting. |

When it comes to Singapore, there are tons of memories that I store in the country. Yes, I have experienced all of it: a day trip to Universal Studio Singapore (USS) only, 3 days with younger brother, work trip and my fourth time with RAINI Travel.

Honestly speaking, I don't remember the last time that I bought a travel package but sometimes it's good to just relax and enjoy the view, especially when it's a day trip. So, right after I finished my full-time work, I head to Kuala Lumpur Sentral (KL Sentral) because that's where they gather before heading out to R&R Gelang Patah, Johor.
Let me tell you this, the rest area is really packed even though it's 4 in the morning, my advice is to take a bath before coming to KL Sentral because you will not go through hurdle. Remember, take a bath beforehand or stop at R&R before Gelang Patah.
Beforehand, make sure to fill in the white card that they gave before you head to the bus because it will help to ease the process at immigration. During the first immigration, you only need to take your handbag, but on the second time, you need to bring all your belongings. Most importantly, don't forget to bring your passport!
9.30 AM - Sentosa Island 📸
I went here with my younger brother before and we get on to the cable car! But, this time I walk through the Sentosa Broadwalk to the USS globe and that's something new. Along the boardwalk, I saw tons of artist with their painting and it's so inspiring!
The globe is actually a few minutes walk from the boardwalk which I suggest you wear comfortable shoes. By the way, if you are hungry there are eating place called as Malaysian Food Street, I never tried although it looks tempting, let me know if you have tried it on the comment down below!
Then we took a free monorail ride at Waterfront Station to Sentosa Station where you can explore the mini Merlion and some KFC Fuji Apple Froyo that I really need to beat the heat. When you get up to the area, you will arrive at Madame Tussauds, although I just circle around the souvenir shop at least I get to meet Tom Cruise 😉

Called as the colourful district in Singapore, the Kampong Glam area is ready to serve you their history, culture and create memories for you. I can assure you that 1 to 2 hour is not enough to stroll around the whole area.

Masjid Sultan 📸
This mosque has been in the 3 Muscat Street since the 1920s and it's a focal point for the Muslim community. Personally, I want to enter the Mosque for prayer but since it's the time of the month, I decided to stroll around Haji Lane area instead. By the way, make sure to wear proper clothes upon entering.

Remarkable Masjid Sultan! |
Restoran Zam Zam 🥘
One of the famous restaurants that you will spot at North Bridge area is packed during the weekend. So, if you are not patient I would suggest you visit other restaurants around the area. But, as for our case, we are lucky to spot a table on the second floor and our order doesn't take too long to get. Honestly, it's an expensive meal but you kind of pay for the amount.

💸 SGD 12 - Pot Chicken Briyani & Coffee Cino

Haji Lane 📸
Now, we are at my favourite street in Singapore! It's a very Instagram worthy spot and there are lots of cafe and shops that you can visit. Basically, prepare your money, camera and you will have the time of your life at Haji Lane.

2.30 PM - Bugis Street 💸
Looking for a cheap souvenir to bring back hometown? Bugis Street is your place! I'm not that into souvenir except fridge magnet because my mom loves to collect them but if you are planning to bring some t-shirt or tote bag home, check out Singapore Souvenir Center. I would recommend you to visit inside of the market if you have a time and grab some LiHo Honey Milk Avocado takeaway!

4.00 PM - Merlion Park & Esplanade 📸
Welcome to the real Merlion statue that filled with tourist all over the world. The statue that represents the 'lion city' is a perfect access to Esplanade (a world-class performing arts centre) and a perfect view of Marina Bay Sands where the engagement party in Crazy Rich Asians happened! Pro tip here to come early in the morning to avoid fighting over a great spot for photos. Well, everyone want one picture with the Merlion before going back to their hometown 😉
INFORMATION:
6.00 PM - Gardens by the Bay 📸
A splendid Supertrees has actually generated a solar system which I never knew before when I suspended on OCBC Skyway. But when I was about to walk at the suspended 128-metre-long walkway they are closed for safety reasons since it's raining and thunder badly. Well, it's too bad because I won't get a closer view of Marina Bay Sands! But, the view of during a nighttime, I can't even put it into words. Totally recommend you to visit during and after sunset!
8.00 PM - Marina Bay Sand Light & Water Show 📸
Actually, you can walk from Gardens by the Bay to Marina Bay Sands but the tour bus drove us to the entrance and we walk through The Shoppes to the light show. I love the mall, not because of the shops but the Sampan ride. Plus, the show 'Spectra' is awesome to end the day trip! We get there pretty early and get a spot in front of the barricade. No worries it's a free to public show so make sure to enjoy the stunning 15 minutes show of water fountains.
Overall, this one day trip is blessed because I get to catch up with an old friend, Farah Dafri and meet new people that joined the trip. The best part is we agree on something and that basically bond us! So, thank you so much for the experiences, where to next?
